Job Title: Associate Attorney

Duties

Assists partner attorneys in preparing and representing clients in business and civil litigation, andfamily law matters;applies legal knowledge and theory in a variety of civil matters; prepares various legaldocuments; communicates with a diverse client base. The role involves the ability to manage multiplepriorities in a fastpaced legal environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism andconfidentiality. The role has an annual requirement of 1,750 billable hours

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist partner attorneys in preparing and representing clients in business law matters, including corporate formation and governance, compliance issues, contracts and agreements, and commercial litigation
  • Assist partner attorneys in preparing and representing clients in family law matters, including custody, divorce, and property division.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies and case development.
  • Draft clear and concise legal documents, including memos, motions, briefs and pleadings, as well as business contracts, agreements, and other transactional documents, that demonstrate attention to detail and analytical thinking in assessing complex legal issues and strategies.
  • Prepare and attend court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations as required
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the legal process, while demonstrating the ability to build and maintain client relationships, fostering trust and satisfaction throughout the legal process.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure effective case management and resolution.
  • Develop strategies to engage with and serve the needs of a diverse client base, focusing on building relationships within culturally rich communities to enhance the firm’s outreach and client base.
Minimum Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, concentrating in business law, as documented by a certificate of that curricular concentration; and 6 months’ experience, which may be gained as an attorney or as a law clerk pre-award of bar license, to include the following skills and knowledge which may have been gained concurrently:

  • Demonstrated experience assisting attorneys with business and family law matters, including performing legal research.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting attorneys who represent clients in civil court proceedings.
  • Demonstrated experience applying California case law, civil procedure and evidence rules when drafting legal documents.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting legal documents including memoranda, briefs, discovery responses, and civil motions such as summary judgment motions, for use by attorneys in California civil court and administrative proceedings.

  • License: Admitted to the California State Bar in good standing.
